By definition "widespread interbreeding" discourages the develoment of 
separate gene pools that lead to the formation of a separate species. If you 
interbreed enough to make all humans similar, how would you get two groups 
that are dissimilar?

Besides the author exists in a virtual state of 1800s morality. When hormones 
are raging - nobody stops to look for color, race, height and facial hair - 
giving new meaning to the old expression "cover the face and ram* the base"
