I wanted a distro which i could use with ease...without having to do  kernel skullduggery at the drop of a hat.  i remember trying to set up kde on debian once, and it wasnt such a pleasant experience...

ubuntu is the first linux distro where i feel i can spend time doing work, rather than spending time trying to get the os to work... for e.g. i wanted to set up a TDMA wireless modem on ubuntu, and it was pretty easy compared to what i would have had to do on another distro....

and i think the founder of the distribution has a very interesting vision of providing a coherent desktop alternative.

Do you prefer it over Debian?
If so, why?
