The reasoning being that if you're any kind of engineer from these elite
places, you are smart enough to pick up programming principles and
languages pretty quickly after you're hired. Whether you have any real
interest in software engineering is not that important. ;)
Do MCAs and kids doing other degrees get similar treatment? Or is that reserved for engineers? While I have friends from "elite" places, they're not ALL smart. I suspect the reasoning is a lazy one too. So much easier for HR to hire someone from an elite institute and look sideways while a Project Manager weeps her heart out.
