Curiosity got the better of me, and while looking up "enthu cutlet", I ran into "full josh".
In the Iliad, Homer has several scenes where the heros set out in shining armor, pretty much unstoppable, at least until they get wounded. He seems to have anticipated the motifs of video games, where certain objects cause the character to be rendered with hilights, pretty much invincible, at least until they finally take too many hits and lose the power-up.
Is the video game "powered up" anything like the proper sense of "in full josh"?
