Actually, I think sudden onset is much more likely, as I think this
would require the death of substantially all of the planet's human
population.
What's also interesting is how economy is a special case of ecology,
and what is the shape of posthuman ecology/economy.
The key term here is "posthuman".
Of course, it is possible that the cockroaches (and Keith Richards) will
develop a taste for money....
