With only 28 million Internet users in India (I've always thought those
figures are wild underestimations given that so many people use
cybercafes), the market has got to be pretty small for these guys.

Given a genuinely good product like cleartrip (and given tons of money from
kleiner perkins, sherpalo etc, certainly enough to take out full page ads
in newspapers) .. there's a sure chance for success. Just have to see if
cleartrip can stay up on its own after the VC funding has dried up.

They certainly get the usual travel agent commissions from airlines, plus
have a 30 day float on cancelations, including a Rs.250 service fee over
and above the airline's cancelation charges.

That's still chump change compared to the cost of all the advertising
they've been doing so far.
