I presume camera adds design complexity and price. 
They wanted the basic design out of the door first, and maybe
there will be enhanced models after.

Same thing here. Logistics of a camera, a navi, a PDA, a phone and a 
mp3 player are nontrivial. It's hard enough to remember to lug around
one device, and keep it charged.

An ideal design would be actually a belt-worn wearable, with a detachable
monocle HUD/eyepiece. With a GPS, a magnetic compass and 3d accelerometers
for dead reckoning that would a minimal platform for augmented reality.
