Oh...how lovely, the charger is charged on the power from the
rechargeable cells that are charged on the power from the charger...I
haven't seen battery-charged charges yet, being still new to all the
et ceteras of photography. I just bought a charger which charges the
batteries from the mains power.

I was talking to someone who designs camera traps for the jungle and
the whole concept of power for these cameras, their flashes, and their
utilities was a fascinating one....I heard the pros and cons of solar
vs. battery vs. mains power charging.))

I somehow feel (no rational basis for this thought) that one day
humankind will discover how to easily (and probably wirelessly and
cheaply) trap the energy all around us, and future generations will
laugh at our fossil fuels, nuclear fission, and attempts at harnessing
other natural forces such as wind and water, and will wonder how the
human race could have been so inefficient and blind as not to
see....(insert the correct energy source here) ....as a cheap, easy
source of energy.

If you think you really need a backup battery, just buy one from Olympus. If
you are going to do a lot of travelling, it might be a good plan to get a
charger that can charge your camera battery off rechargable AA/Nimh cells.
