However I must compliment Deepa here for the excellent little explanatory
booklet that everyone got at her daughters's wedding. If there is one person
on this list whom I know has an adequate knowledge of both an Indian language
(Tamil) and English to be able to do a seriously good job of documenting some
sort of narrative - it would be Deepa.>

Wouldn't you know it...if my internet connection doesn't work for a
couple of days, that would be the time when I get compliments out of
the blue! Thank you Shiv/Nallu...

My "skills" are available for anyone who would like to document their,
or their parents', social narratives. I agree that our "karNa
parampara" (oral tradition) will have to change if we need a database
that does not get re-interpreted or re-invented in some cases. My
knowledge of Hindi and Bengali is as fluent as my Tamizh. I find it
fascinating to hear about the lives of our elders...but it had not
occurred to me that others, too, would find it interesting.

Deepa.
