I'd agree that you shouldn't believe everything you read. But it would be safer to err on the side of caution when deciding what to believe. I know comparatively little about Tor, but I'm sure it's no silver bullet for privacy. I don't think it is possible for *any* tool to be one. In this case, it's fairly obvious many of the users of Tor didn't RTFM before using it. As Confucius said, "A little paranoia never hurt anybody -- especially on the Internet". :-)
