Which is why I am fascinated by the notion of somebody attempting to reproduce them on a single instrument, like a trumpet. When one takes away the sampled beat and the sampled riff, there's no *there* there.
That's exactly my point. In between work, gigging, and other commitments, I've only put in about two weeks worth of practice so far, so I'm still at the "play the same damn 4 notes over and over" stage with this instrument. Now, playing scales and intervals, while useful, can also be a little dulling if one doesn't throw in some other exercises. At this stage, being fairly limited, that means I could tackle either nursery rhymes or Ms Spears' vocals ; there's very little technical difference between "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and "Stronger", but I feel far less foolish repeating the latter than the former...

What you want to do is take ... 'My Humps' ... and try that on the trumpet, or better still, a long, slow sax.
Might give that a try sometime -- but not on sax, as playing tenor is what ruined my embouchure in the first place :-)
(suresh, my mail to you bounced, but shiv and udhay should have copies of the mp3s)
