Both articles have less to do with Indians treating tourists as honored guests* or Indian women having achieved it all in life, rather the unstated simmering discordant note in society that women have gotten more than they deserve in life and hence conform less to the earlier patriarchal way of life. Not sure if it has anything to do with stereotyping of women in the mainstream media (TV & movies) which is a stark contrast to reality. Adultery and promiscuity are not new but tolerance levels for a woman (as opposed to a man) is close to nil. * Travel inter-state in India and the same subtle hypocrisy exists even if never openly visible.
