I would note that male bare skin does not seem to have the same corrosive effect on the social fabric. The obvious naive interpretation is that this is an attempt to control women's sexuality, that uncontrolled female sexuality is somehow a threat. Because I don't see anyone talking about the problem being the men who can't seem to control themselves, even though the actual problematic behavior (rape and murder) is being performed by men. So why is the bare skin the "abuse?" Why isn't is the violence? How is this not a classic case of blaming the victim? Let's see what is more of a problem? Bare skin on the street or rape, immodest behavior or murder? Tough call I have to say. -- Charles
