"Son of the soil" "Indigenous people" "Natives as of < insert date here > from which date I say that history begins" But less contentiously, people have an "image" of what existed earlier and what IS now and innocently speak their innermost minds while referring to that, bound by the restrictions of existing vocabulary, but their honesty and openness gets them branded as possibly biased. A secondary effect of this is overused political correctness. In their own way I believe both Deepa and Perry fell into this trap, as they let their PC guards down. Forgive them for they know not what nitpicking twits the rest of us are :) Perhaps this has a bearing on language and personality? Wrong thread. And sorry for this post that is likely to be difficult to fathom. shiv
