How does this help Viacom prove that more copyrighted (and illegally uploaded) content is being watched on YouTube than original user-generated content? All they really need is the number of views that each video on YouTube received. The rest is fluff, unless they try to identify users (even if they don't target them right away). There have been a few fun cases where RIAA subpoenas have been sent to IPs > that were actually permanently assigned to a university laser printer > (duke? tufts?) Sure, but there are plenty of cases where people aren't laughing about it. Even RIAA, MPAA and their ilk are not going to be stupid forever. -- Sumant Srivathsan sumants.blogspot.com
