Try OpenWRT, then. Plenty of packages there.

Notice that the hardware is underpowered, depending on your
Internet connection. I personally recommend http://pcengines.ch/alix.htm
for a cost-effective (~120 EUR for board, case, and power adapter)
solution. You can keep your old Linksys as an access point. Or, buy
a mini-PCI WLAN card for the ALIX board, along with pigtails and
antenna. No 802.11n yet, though.
