Pakistan does not want free trade with Indiaa until "there is progress" on the Kashmir issue.
For India, Kashmir is non negotiable. Pakistan will continue to be unstable because Pakistani leaders are mortgaging Pakistan's economy and stability against the need to get Kashmir. India is perfectly happy to see Pakistan doing that. They will not get Kashmir even after nuclear war, and Pakistan is heading towards testing this hypothesis. Anyone who is worried that India is a risky place should really get the hell out of India. Pakistan might not be a good destination. The portents are less happy than one might like to think, but since most Indians deliberately want to ignore the obvious and live in delusion, the portents may not be a big deal. shiv
