The problem with using the expression 'Pakistani Military Establishment" is that although it fits into a view that you are willing to accpet it remains inaccurate. There are reasons why I say this 1) There is a Pakistani "establishment" outside the military that is as important in pushing Pakistan's views. 2) When one pins down the military alone, the argument that is made is "Oh then let us address the people of Pakistan who are just like us and want to love us the way we love them" This is wrong. This is part of what I am saying. This is a delusion. The number of "average Pakistanis" who want to love India as liberal secular Indians love Pakistanis is much smaller than that latter group imagine. Pakistanis are friendly and polite. but they are not wiling to condsider themselves "equal" to Indians, or "just like "Indians. The myth that they do will merely be propagated by blaming the "Pakistani Military Establsihment" as you suggest. I do not say things lightly. I would be the first to admit that it is only the establishment, military and non military that feel this way if my reading had told me that was so. It is not. It is part of the Indian delusion to believe that this is the case. The particular means that are being used to radicalize the "average Pakistani" (whom you want to exclude from this by using the expression "'Pakistani Military Establishment" ) is exactly what is feeding the Taliban, Lashkar e Toiba and the Jamat ud Dawa. The Englsih speaking Pakistanis who are oh so friendly and reasonable are a miniscule minority. There are dozens of Pakistani references written by the oh so reasonable and friendly Pakistanis that bemoan this. I wil not impose the latest of those those articles on here - there are enough in my book. There seems to be a distinct desire among a lot of Indians to somehow wriggle away from the idea that Pakistan is a more serious problem than we like to imagine. Like I said unless we are aware of what is happening in Pakistan we will be as surprised when we get nuked as Indians were when Mumbai was attacked. At least those of us who survive - considering that I will be among the first to go when Bangalore is nuked. shiv
