Where did you get this Mysore Concerns coffee, SRS? Did you get the powder
or drink the coffee? If this was in Blr, let us...or at least me...know.

There is a perception amongst Tamilians (well, TamBrams) that "pure"
coffee means only Peaberry, no Arabica or (as it is known in Coffee Board
circles,"Plantation A " and "Plantation B"....or Robusta....I once had a
long conversation with Sunalini Menon, who used to be a coffee-taster for
the Coffee Board, and she said that in actuality, in blind tests, most south
Indians preferred a mix of Peaberry, Robusta, and Arabica..with at least a
10% blend of chicory! She said that contrary, also, to the perception that
chicory is Not A Good Thing, adding 10% chicory to the blend did improve the
strength of the decoction, and boosted the flavour of the coffee without
taking away from the taste.

So how did this predeliction for "Peaberry" (or is it "P-berry"?) coffee
come to be?

A friend of mine also got enough Kopi Luwak seeds from his plantation-owning
pal, to have his mother roast and grind them, and serve them to his friends,
and he said the taste was smooth and excellent....but whether it was worth
the kind of expense it would normally involve, is another matter!

Cheers, Deepa.
