I think their search might be improving soon. They recently had a guest blog post (by two professorial-type chaps) on sifting people (and consequently links) on the basis of reputation, and how to measure reputation, etc. I'm guessing it would have made for interesting reading had I had the time. But I do remember one of the criteria being finding appropriate links earlier than others (and thinking how I completely agreed with that as a criterion). I think it would still be the top post on <http://blog.delicious.com> (or, for those still haven't gotten over the change, <http://blog.del.icio.us>), as I saw it quite recently.
