Do we have an alternate venue?
No alternative venue yet - am still looking for suggestions.
I am excited about the Silk Meet and am happy to host it. It will be
nice to put faces to the opinions. I live in Bangalore in a flat.
Shiv and Deepa have visited so they can gauge if it is a suitable
venue. Being a year-old inductee, I don't know the format of Silk
Meets, but I would love to have Silk Listers over for a party on 19th
(lunch or dinner). We have held book readings and baithaks for under
50 people at home. If it is over 50 people, it will only work with
the "Home is small but heart is large" assumption of goodwill.
That said, I would beg out of food and drink logistics. If someone
else can volunteer to plan all that, you have a venue. Our building
parties are catered by Shiv Sagar which serves excellent Indian food
(chole bature and chaats) for about Rs. 160 per person. I can give
the Shiv Sagar contact if needed. Drinks?? Don't know.
But I can volunteer a venue.
