I've noticed one thing on this mailing list, at least...several people seem
rather more comfortable "e-meeting" others, rather than meeting in person.
Well, it's also happened that I've been missing the silk meets...and once,
when I tried to meet another person....something totally unexpected came up
and prevented me from being there. (my friends and I arrived back in the
city several hours late, and everyone's mobile had, incredibly, died at
around the same time!)...and in a recent example that I mentioned to Uday, I
did choose going for a Chennai Photo Walk over going to a quiz where I was
invited very cordially...but where, earlier, my experience had not been a
good one.

I've been noticing this in myself, too....it's perhaps a function of the
dreadful traffic, and my resolve to only walk, cycle or take public
transport....but I'm no longer willing to go across town to meet
friends...I'm content with phone conversations and e-contact.

This can't be a Good Thing. I think that I need to have *propppper* (as we
would say) contact with those whom I consider my friends...and meet new
people, too.

But...if I too develop a medical condition which, in my opinion, will invite
pity, what would I do? Probably, withdraw...

Mulling over this, and the disquieting fact that my memory, never great to
begin with, seems to be getting weaker...what is the point at which symptoms
such as this should be examined medically?

All these thoughts were going through my mind when I got a YM ping from
Uday...it was very nice to pick up the phone and call him, halfway across
the world, to have a conversation that had nothing very memorable about
it...but which was somehow, quite...satisfying.

Uday...thank you for pinging, Just Like That.

Deepa.
