GoI does not realise that security can always be bypassed, and that
is something they have to live with. Considering sending emails to
chief minister, Member of Parliament as a security breach, Perhaps
some one has been watching too much of Jason Bourne / James Bond in
the Ministry play the blame on the Internet. Of all the Internet
security research taking place in CDAC , W3C India office and most of
these organizations have their own downstream versions of GNU
distributions none of them provide any responsible disclosure of any
vulnerability issues to the vendor-sec list. The other problem is that
most of these downstream distributions fork some of the upstream ones
at some point of time and forget to pull in the security updates for
the subsequent releases and then release gem of a project like the
$40/ $10 laptop which leads to nothing but mockery on slashdot and
rediff forums .
