My 2-paise worth: About the food review bias in The Hindu There are quite a few restaurant reviews in The Hindu's Chennai's Metroplus that do talk about the things not so right.
These are recent instances:<http://beta.thehindu.com/life-and-style/metroplus/article425576.ece> http://beta.thehindu.com/life-and-style/metroplus/article425576.ece There's plain, in which the pure, luscious flavour of good yoghurt shines through. The next three are created with fruit pulp: Strawberry, reminiscent of a fruit preserve, delicately green Kiwi, and Mango, rather muddled and lacking zest. http://beta.thehindu.com/life-and-style/Food/article418517.ece However, despite the quality ingredients, my steak is overdone with charred, crusty edges. Which is tasty, I admit. But the meat’s so tough and chewy that lunch turns into a WWE style feud, ending with me practically on the table, holding it down like a female (and woefully under-muscled) version of The Undertaker. The fact that it arrives sizzling grandly on Holy Smoke’s signature volcanic stone (heated to 400 degrees Centigrade) doesn’t help since the stone keeps cooking the steak, and accompanying potato wedges. There are few reviews which may talk about the good points and not dwell on the things that aren't so great. It depends on the reviewer, their level of expertise, and their preferences. I think it is the same with movie reviews. Some slash and burn, some are surprisingly benign. Point is, these reviews are from a person's point of view. That's why they are in the features section.
