FIlms? Yes. Books? Perhaps not. The consuming public has a lot to do with it. Nikhat Kazmi, for instance, specializes in writing original crap and plagiarised not-so-crap. And I don't know about book reviews, but a recent review[1] (in Mint) of a bookstore left much to be wanting (by your standards, at least). But I would consider it very much par for the course.
