I once proposed a museum interpretation project to the Director of ASI
(archaelogical survey of india) wherein different groups would interpret
history through objects in the museums and children would be invited to both
view and provide feedback. My mistake was to posit this as an exercise that
would reveal the various histories and narratives in India not just one
viewpoint. The response I got was that ASI is dependent on funding from the
governmnent and no government of India would have the guts to take on a
project of this sort even if it was couched as an educational project for
children.
