It's not about this group. Anything you say on a forum that you think is private may be forwarded to someone outside that group, so how does a group's professed privacy policy matter? As the Wikileaks and Radia episodes show, you can't rely on anything being private anymore if you say it on a medium that can be intercepted or copied.
