They do not break easily. I went without the doodads on my latest pair and in two years have barely a scratch. Do not get anti-glare. It adds an odd tint and has an affinity for grease. It'll catch fingerprints and refuse to lose them until you wipe with expensive spectacle-cleaning fluid and chamois. Without anti-glare, I can wipe clean with water and my pocket kerchief, and I've worn the glasses everywhere without incident. Kiran
