There isn't a single reason. There are several: * Wanting good geek company. After a while, not being able to share your neat hacks with anyone for miles and miles around you becomes tiring. * Acquiring expensive hobbies (such as photography) * Losing touch with what is happening in the geek-so-sphere. E.g., blogging was barely known even among Alpha Geeks when I went into the wilderness. When I returned, everyone and their pet parakeet had a Live Journal. * Developing a lot more patience and compassion * Time required to acquire a decent passport Thaths -- Marge: Quick, somebody perform CPR!
