Y'know: After this latest (of a series) episode it's becoming increasingly difficult to assume the goodwill of posters who I don't know for sure are real people.
As it is, the tone and level of discourse on silk has changed over the years. A few years ago, it felt like the conversation of people who knew and respected each other, now it often feels like the impersonal, points scoring discussions of dozens of other mailing lists and news groups scattered around the 'net. If this place is also going to become the focus of people's silly intellectual games, I'm afraid I'm not going to work up the enthusiasm to spend my copious free time on it. If we want to continue to have intelligent conversations here it may be time for us add a other rule: "Do unto others as you would have done to you." -- b
