Hello Friends,
I'm honored to be added to this list. Below, a brief introduction.
I live on Martha's Vineyard, a mostly rural island 5 miles south of
Cape Cod, Massachusetts. I make my living as a freelance technical
writer and novelist. I've been in the high tech/computer industry
since 1980, starting with a very tiny role on the "Eagle" project
described in Tracy Kidder's book "Soul of a New Machine" and
including 9 years at Sun Microsystems, where, among other things, I
founded the world's first Information Architecture group. I've also
had lots of non high-tech jobs, including being a construction worker
and a long-haul truck driver. I'm married, with 3 adult children.
My chief hobby is being a volunteer firefighter. I'm a member of the
company of Tisbury 651, an aerial platform ladder truck. Because 651
is such an awesome machine, I include here a link to a photo of it:
