Sounds really interesting, thanks. (And in an example of thread- drift ...) I read Kidder's "Mountains Beyond Mountains, about Dr. Paul Farmer, and found it fascinating.

The main subject of Soul of a New Machine is a man named Tom West, with whom I worked at Data General. Tom died early last summer. A month later, there was a small memorial gathering at his house. Tracy Kidder was there, and I enjoyed talking to him. My wife has been to Haiti doing volunteer work, has read Mountains Beyond Mountains, and her physician is a close associate of Dr. Farmer. So Tracy and my wife had a nice long conversation about all that.

I'm also hoping you're a Red Sox fan.

Yes. But not as enthusiastic as I once was. We don't watch TV in our house, but I listen to about 100 games each year on the radio. I love listening to baseball games on the radio. I love baseball in general.
