The carving itself has clearly been lifted from elsewhere and placed there along with 3 or 4 others in the vicinity.
But my guess as to age and origin were based on the fact that the style and amount of wear were similar to carvings that my grandfather owned. He had one similar to the carving below - albeit with severe wear and damage - with the facial features and other details destroyed.
