Plenty of birth-controlled marriages around here in the UK! Generally,
with birth control combined with a high cost of living, couples tend to
put off having children quite late, if at all, feeling they need to be
economically established enough to afford some combination of paid
childcare and the mother working part time or not at all.

There's still some feeling that it's a good idea to get married before
having children, and the tendency to have children later reducing this
pressure to get married might contribute to what many of my peers are
doing, which is to be engaged and living together (eg, married in all
but legalities and not having had a big party) for years or decades,
with "getting married and having kids" filed under "when we've paid off
our student loans and found well-paying jobs, which might never happen".

However, another contributory factor to that seems to be a feeling that
actually having a wedding will be a major pain in the ass due to having
to organise their families, who invariantly have complicated
expectations of how their children will get married, difficult issues
about whether to send invites to estranged branches of the family, and
all that! So how much is down to birth control combined with a high cost
of living leading to later babies is hard to divine without proper study!
