Meh. As Lytro is today, it is a niche product like 3D photography or IR
photography. I don't see it catching on with Joe Pointandshoot or Jane
D'Slr. I can see a handful of hipsters buying it, but what after that?

It could be argued that Lytro is useful for photographers by allowing them
to adjust the plane of focus ex post facto. But any decent photographer
will tell you that a narrow plane of focus - however well you can push it
forward or backward - is not always desired. None of the demos of Lytro
that I have seen allow me to change my aperture from f/2 to f/22 in post
editing.

And requiring a special viewer to view the output of Lytro is a no go.
Though I suspect they can easily modify (if they have not already done so)
their editing/viewing software to export to JPG any particular version that
is being viewed.
