I believe I have exactly the same motivation as you to get a Kindle. but it will probably be a Kindle (if at all) simply because it does not try to pass itself off as anything other than a reading device that will somehow replace your phone, wallet, movie theater, radio, travel agent, diary, measuring tape, compass, speedometer, pedometer, pen, dietician, clock, camera, computer, spouse and secretary. shiv
