I'm not at all sure how this applies to me; I retired at 46.
I was certainly tired of the company I was working for at the time (an
unworthy tuition mill), but not tired of teaching. As for
"successful", my wife and I agreed we no longer needed additional
income, which is success in at least one form.
I did not stay retired. Within a year I had two part-time jobs, and a
decade later took on a full-time post in addition. All three were for
love of the work, so I'm not sure if this means I "unretired" or not.
It is so very hard to explain or define the unusual life of the sort
more and more of us are coming to lead.
