I keep all my books in epub, but have considered getting a Kindle device. Calibre will convert to un-DRMed Kindle format if you're willing to do a bit of work. Last time I looked it was also possible to put an epub reader on a rooted Kindle if you want to go that route.
On the other hand, those PocketBooks look nice... -- Charles
