Interesting thing I just noticed.

I upgraded my water filter to an RO based system. The water tastes
different, which is understandable. The tea made with it tastes different,
which is also understandable. But the tea *looks* different. The liquor is
lighter and more reddish. All other conditions (tea used, time steeped) are
same. Any ideas?

One filter company uses this phenomenon to sell their filter systems. They used to package the filters with teabags so you could do the comparison for yourself.

It's probably a mineral in the water (calcium, magnesium, iron) that forms a compound with something in the tea and makes it look darker and muddier. Take out the mineral and your tea is clearer and lighter.
