I second (third?) 99% invisible and Samanth and his wife's The
Intersection.

- I'm also a big fan of the Nerdette podcast -- the two women who run it
have great chemistry and interview very interesting people, ranging from
authors to astronauts and marine biologists.
-If a film buff (or even if you're not), highly recommend You Must Remember
this podcast by Karina Longworth, especially the stellar series on Charles
Manson's Hollywood.
- Vikram Doctor's Real Food podcast for foodies.
- The Bugle podcast by John Oliver and Andy Zaltzman for politics and
satire (though sadly discontinued, worth digging into old episodes)
- The Allusionist podcast about words and language
- Welcome to Night Vale for weird and wonderful tales set in dystopia
