Thought that more good folks would like to see some research that I have done in the area of Colloidal Silver. ***The attachment id for information only***
Colloidal Silver Research First, let me explain myself. I am a Medical Laboratory Technologist, I am trained in microbiology and have an interest in same. When I subscribed to the Silver List, I was very interested in the results and claims that were made. Sense I am of "The establishment", the claims seemed to be far to the left and not to be trusted. I asked for and received a copy of the "Silver Generator" by Scott <[email protected], and following his directions, produced a batch of colloidal silver which my wife and myself used. The results did suprise me. I feel that I was able to cure a case of H.pilori (causative agent of ulcers) and used it as a topical treatment on cuts and other infections. I also obtained a copy of an article that appeared in the April 1997 "73 Amateur Radio Today" magazine by Thomas M. Miller titled 'Build a Colloidal Silver Generator', though I have not built this system, I have used it for ideas. The middle of July, 1975, I decided that it was time to apply scientific research to the problem and answer a few questions I had . It is me desire to share the following research with the group. n 7/20/97, I obtained a culture of normal oral flora,( from my mouth) and placed the culture in a nutrient broth to grow , this is to be used as the test culture for the following experiments. The next day, I produced a batch of colloidal silver in the following manner: I hooked up three (3) 9 volt batteries is series to produce a total of 27 volts D.C. I then used 12 ounces of deionized water, into which I hung two (2) silver electrodes made from a silver medallion . The medallion was cut in half producing two electrodes that contain about .5 ounces Troy of 999 fine silver each. The electrodes were spaced .25 inches apart and hooked to the batteries using jumper cables obtained from Radio Shack. Each 15 minutes I would reverse the polarity on the electrodes and mix the solution, the solution was also mixed at mid-polarity change. The mixing action was by moving the electrodes from side to side to cause mixing. This was done for a total of four (4) changes of polarity (1 hour). At the end of this time the solution was quite turbid and brown in color. I then placed one sample in a container and another sample was placed in a container after adding five (5) drops of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide, which turned the solution black in color. Next, I inoculated two culture plates with the test culture. To one plate I added 1,2,3 and 4 drops of the original colloidal silver solution that I made in February of 1997, marking the areas and the volume of the solution placed on the plate. To the other plate, I added the same amounts of colloidal silver solution and marked this plate also. Both plates were incubated at 38'F for 20 hours. RESULTS The cultlure plate that had the original colloidal silver solution added had no inhibition of growth at all. The culture that had the fresh colloidal silver solution added had zones of inhibited growth around all areas except the areas where there was less than three (3) drops of solution added. CONCLUSION From the above experiment, it can be clearly seen that Colloidal Silver does indeed inhibit the growth of bacteria. Further testing is needed to answer the following questions. 1. What is the shelf life of the solution? 2. What is the best method to produce the solution? 3. What is the best concentration of solution to use? 4. Does Colloidal Silver inhibit the growth of Gram Positive Streptococci as well as the Gram Positive Staph and Bacilli mixed culture used in this experiment? 5. Does Colloidal Silver inhibit the growth of Gram Negative Bacteria? 6 Does Colloidal Silver inhibit the growth of other pathogens such as yeast and or fungi? There is still a lot of work to be done, but I thought that others would be interested in the positive results of this preliminary testing.
