Well, the DIST-1 arrived yesterday and it's a very nice device but there is one problem that is self evident now that I have it in hand. I thought by calling Hanna TWICE and talking to their specialists that I was going to the horse's mouth. It turns out that I was apparently at the other end of the horse instead. They claimed that the DIST-1 was the preferred device for measuring in the single digit ppm range. Not so. The least significant digit on the lcd readout is the 10's column. Whatever the reading you get, you have to multply by 10 to get the ppm. For example, if the readout says "33" then the true ppm is 330 - 340. Big potential error margin in the single digit range obviously. You can't tell the difference between 1 ppm and 9 ppm. This was pointed out by some of our listers to me but I just didn't get it until I had the device in hand. You guys should get a job with Hanna. Your descriptions of the two devices were much more accurate than theirs. Anyhow, thanks for trying to set me straight on this guys, I'm just a little thick sometimes. I'll call them back today and order the TDS-1, after I chew on their ear for a while.
