Listers, Stick with distilled water. The process of R-O is a fine one for drinking and purification but it is no substitute for distilled de-ionized H20.
The R-O process will remove particulate to a very large degree but not all metals, mineralization and chemicals can be removed by these units. As we utilize them on our boats for mainstay water production we are fully aware of their use and function. To make a solar distiller is quite simple and this will eliminate your requirement for buying distilled water or taking risks with R-O water..... Just offering what we find necessary to maintain a quality product.
