A bridge rectifier does not really produce constant DC voltage. It is still
a type of pulsed DC. Check on an oscilloscope.

Not sure. I did the bridge rectifier thing with 220 volt AC and made a
batch of CS. You get a *massive* build up on the negative electrode. The
process seemed a bit violent to me. My stuff was still light yellow with
big Tyndall effect. Have to analyse the CS though. Undecided.

I put a normal 60 watt ac light bulb in series with a input wire (before
the bridge). If you have an accidental short due to electrodes touching or
a crystal bridge forming, you won't blow. The light turns on. With this
high dc voltage I had lots of shorts due to crystal bridges forming between
the electrodes.
