My generating glass gets stains also and I just put plain white vineger in to soak over night. I would never use commercial cleaners in my CS containers, too many unknown chemicals, Also I clean my silver electrodes with clean unsented tissue, the Scotch-brite pads contain a proprietary germicidal that will kill your fish if you use it on your fish tank, read the fine print on the package! Wash with soap and water rinse twice, and then rinse with distilled water. This works very well for me, and removes all stains and silver plated to glass. One more thing , I think you should be careful of using vases, because many are made from leaded glass and you could get more than you want in your CS, also could be cause of persistant stains.
