Do you really think we have not considered these factors?

The smartest person I have ever known once told me: "The scientific method
is much like grabbing nature by the throat and demanding an answer".

May I suggest that the next time you want to use CS on 'the kids' you do a
single-blind test:

give one kid the CS

give the other kid(s) distilled water.

Do not tell them (single blind test: they do not know but you know which is
which)

Observe results.

That is, try to prove that CS is just as effective as distilled water.

The whole essence of the scientific method is to try to create experiments
which will show that a particulal idea is in
error.

2. Other people with anecdotes may think up the same type of single-blind
test: 2 lots of cut flowers - one with CS and the
other with distilled water. Ask someone who does not know about teh test to
say which bunch is 'better'.
