We have tested several brands of distilled water for purity, and the two best
we have found are Crystal Springs and Kroger (Which I believe is relabeled
Crystal Springs). If the glass you use has any impurity in it, say a little
diswashing detergent film on it, or if you stick a sweatly finger into the
water, or handle the silver and get some body salt on it, the trace of salt can
make a tremendous difference. If you leave the water exposed to air for a
length of time it can absorb carbon dioxide, which forms carbonic acid, and
also will drop the resistance tremendously.
