For months?!?!?! I would say go see a doctor as it appears that the CS is not helping in this case (provided you are getting "good" CS). However I don't think there is anything wrong with increasing the dosage either. If I feel any sort of cold or soar throat coming on I would not hesitate to take 8 - 16 oz of CS within a single day.
Just as an FYI one of the reasons I got involved with CS is that I used to get Step throat many times a year - since I was young. This would always require antibiotics. If I did not get the antibiotics quick enough then my throat would get very irritated. Since I have been taking HVAC CS every day I have yet to develop a case of Step - - although it has only been around 7 months - - but it is a good start.
