Hi Dee,
I would like to add GSE (Grapefruit Seed Extract) to the list of very
effective remedies.
The experts say.......that gum infections are caused by bacteria and
sometimes fungus. Well, I'm not so sure that science has discovered the
causes of all problems that infect teeth and gums ~ people are so different
genetically and exposed to a host of possibile culprits that affect the immune
system. I think at the least its very odd that everyone who has gum/tooth
problems acquires it from the same bacterial strain/family. There may be many
causes.

This topic came along just in time. This is not the first time I've
encountered a problem with a tooth wherein the gum became infected. This time
it got so bad the tooth became loose. In part I blame this on inadequate
supplements .i.e. Vit A &D and Zinc so I cranked the supplements up. CS I
found from experience is excellent as a daily, routine, preventative and
maintenance but when inflamation takes hold a much stronger broad spectrum
remedy may be required. 15 minutes of daily sunlight is supposed to be enough
to provide the daily requirements for the body to produce them naturally.
Huge, by that I mean at least 10 Grams daily, helps tremendously as well when
flare ups occur.

I would like to say thank you to whomever suggested the Aloe Vera. I am
not sure of what properties make it so effective, but it is soothing and helped
tremendously to firm the area.

The GSE one can feel working immediately, the results becoming apparent after
about a day or two. It's true that its powerful and must be diluted. I have it
on hand but never thought to use it for gum/tooth problems, until yesterday.
Improving tremendously.
Main page but there are many others citing the studies from Universities all
over the country

The Studies are impressive. For example.

Will grapefruit seed extract help my gingivitis? -J.T./ Dallas, TX
GSE is used by many people as an oral rinse, on their tooth brush(with or
without paste) and as an additive to "Waterpik" type units. It is, in fact, an
extremely effective treatment for gingivitis or any other bacteria or fungi
related gum or mouth disorder. Many dentists have confirmed that it actually
kills the bacteria which cause tooth decay and plaque as well as gingivitis.
Recommended dosage for a simple oral rinse is 3 drops into a small(at least 5
oz.) glass of water, swishing vigorously within the mouth for 30 seconds or
more. Adults and children over six years of age can do this twice daily after
brushing teeth. Be careful not to overdo the GSE: applying the concentrate
directly to the teeth could cause erosion of the enamel and tooth
discoloration, not to mention the likelihood of irritating the gums and tongue.

I recently saw a new product at a trade show which promoted itself as a
toothbrush sanitizer. You leave your brush soaking over-night, and it was good
for maybe a week or two; but it seemed rather expensive. How about an
inexpensive solution? -B.L. Richardson, TX
Use 2-5 drops of GSE in 5 oz. or so of water, and replace every week or
so.

  Also,
  http://www.nutriteam.com/oral.htm
For the past several years, scientists in Pace University's Biology
Department have conducted research on oral microbiology and viruses. Their
studies found that most of a variety of oral \ agents tested for their
antiviral properties were not effective, and some even protected viruses under
certain conditions. Their research focused on two viruses(bacteriophages T1
and T7, which infect Excheria coli B) that attack bacteria. Extracts of zinc,
aloe, and grapefruit were separately added to toothpaste and combined in test
tubes with the viruses. The loss of phage titer, as a result of these natural
additives, was observed for phage stored at room temperature(25 degrees C.), at
refrigeration(4 degrees C.) and at subfreezing (-12 degrees C.) temperatures.
T1 and T7 were totally inactivated after 10 minutes exposure at room
temperature to NutriBiotic brand grapefruit seed extract(undiluted and 10%
dilution). An appreciable decrease in T1 titer, i.e. 85% loss, was also
obtained with a crude extract of grapefruit peelings. Zinc totally
inactivated both phages. T1 inactivation occurred after 10 minutes mixing at
room temperature, whereas T7 inactivation occurred after one day storage under
refrigeration.
Substantial inactivation of both phages was obtained with purified aloe vera
after two days of storage(day one under refrigeration, day two at subfreezing
temperature), i.e. 88% and 95% loss of titer for T1 and T7, respectively. A
crude extract of aloe, strained or unstrained, had little, if any, effect on
the phages. Tom's of Maine mouthwash which contains purified aloe vera juice
totally inactivated T1 and T7 after 10 minutes of mixing at room temperature.
After 10 minutes of storage at room temperature, under refrigeration and in
sub-freezing conditions, T1 and T7 viruses were virtually inactivated. "This
research serves as a model to investigate viral and bacterial infections of the
oral cavity," Schiffenbauer said. "Pace researchers will expand their study to
include other common forms of viruses that may weaken the gums and allow entry
of harmful bacteria."

I think aloe Vera is a great product, and for many things, but I have known
most success with things like gum disease, with just CS. My daughter had
awful mouth abcesses which were completely cured in a few hours with CS and
I have just had shingles which are nearly all gone now using CS and DMSO on
the lesions. The lesions I had on my tongue and gums went after five days of
just CS. I have ingested CS all through the days for about a week and now
just a couple of times a day. The shingles have almost disappeared and I
didn't have a days illness, just a bit tired for a couple of days. All this
in just a week and a half which must be a record for beating shingles I
think! DeePS I also took L-Lysine.
