That's a belief and a generalisation and there is a good deal of scientific evidence to support it. But it can't be an object of knowledge. Even vegetarian diet is generalisation. Someone may eat peanuts and it kills them. Refraining from eating meat is specific. I think we have take generalisations, and accept them in an intelligent way. In the same way, refraining from eating meat may be harmful for an Inuit elderly man, when asked to do so or paid, in a scientific study over three months. For the same man who voluntarily refrains to because of a religious conviction he may indeed find it non-harmful.
